So what people drink there arrives by road from the regions of northern Peru where Huachuma grows wild, hundreds of kilometers away. We are planting Huachuma in the valley itself, so that in time it can come from the ground it is used on. Most of what people drink still comes from wild stock in Peru. A columnar cactus that is cut takes years to be replaced. We are actively looking for other projects to support. We consider ourselves students of this plant and of those who came before. Many of them carry a painted stone at the base with the name the plant was given.
